There are many things in life that we can't control. There are many things that have the possibility of stealing our livelihood and even our very lives. Our health should not be one of those things. I feel that one of the biggest obstacles to good health in my life has been a sedentary lifestyle. I can't control when the next terrorist attack will happen. I can't control the traffic on the road. I CAN control how much I move!
Physical activity has so many benefits. For me, a diabetic, it is even more necessary. Physical activity lowers blood glucose levels, burns excess fat, drives down cortisol levels caused by stress (which stores fat around your vital organs), clears your mind, strengthens your muscles, decreases depression, and increases your endurance (among other things).
So with all those benefits this is my decree....I pledge 200 miles by August 31st, 2010.
This is how I set my goal. My ultimate fitness goal is to have consistency. I want to consistently have a minimum of 3 days of physical activity a week. There are 27 weeks until August 31st (roughly). I figure 2 miles a day, 3 times a week is doable for me during the spring and summer with my schedule. That is 162 miles, but I want to challenge myself, so adding a bit more will kick it up a bit for me. So here goes nothing....will you join me???

About Me
- April
- I'm 36 years old and happily married to my wonderful husband of over 11 years, Shawn. We have no children (which you probably already know), but have an 18 pound cat named Todd. We also have a 7 yr old niece, a two year old nephew, and a brand new baby niece named after me, Jillian April. In January of 2009 I started back to school and am currently working on my elementary teaching degree.
